The first modern Olympics were held in Greece, in 1896, and now 32 Olympiads (128 years) later, we are in Paris celebrating the best of the best. Every four years the world's eyes turn to a main world city, to watch the best sportsmen and women compete against each other. These days we are very lucky to be able to watch any sport we like, when we like, thanks to the wonders of streaming technology.
So please enjoy this week's blog, our bloggers are Olympians today! Hi, my readers, today's blog is what is your favourite Olympic sport, and if you were participating in the Olympics what sport would you choose? The Olympic sport I would pick is gymnastics, why I would pick it is because I did gymnastics when I was little. I did it for 1 year, I liked it, it was fun to do, especially I liked the rings because you can do flips, and I also liked the trampoline because you can do tricks and jump around. What you do in gymnastics is the balance beam, bars, rings, floor, you can do handstand, cartwheel, straddle jump, bridge, round off, jumping, rolling, and a bunch more stuff. Here is what to do in gymnastics:- Only one person at a time on the trampoline. When jumping into the foam pit, land on your feet, or bottom or your back, you can not dive, or go headfirst, or land on your knees. One person at a time on the equipment on the bars, rings, and balance beam You can NOT train on your own, you have to have a staff member with you at all times . If you were to be in the Olympics what sport would you pick and why? Thank you for reading my blog this week Alannah ‘Go Sports!!!’ - Leonard Hofstadter (Big Bang Theory) Hello Friends, I assume at this point we all know that the Olympics are a thing that is happening in the world right now in Paris, France. (26th July – 11th August 2024). As you can probably tell I'm not a big follower of sports, I have an AFL team and that's as far as I go. So here goes the most unsporty human, talking about a favourite Olympic sport and if I was to participate in the Olympics (HA!) What sport would I choose? For my favourite Olympic sport, I have chosen skateboarding because no one seems to be talking about it, currently according to Google, Australia hasn't won any medals in skateboarding yet. In skateboarding the events are called Women’s Street, Men's Street, Women’s Park and Men’s Park. The 2024 Australian Skateboarding teams are as follows; PARK; (Men) Kieren Wolley, Keegan Palmer and Keefer Wilson. (Women) Arisa Trew and Ruby Trew. STREET; (Men) Shane O’Neill, (Women) Chloe Covell, Liv Lovelace and Haylie Powell. (From olympics.com) I believe that we should all be incredibly proud of all the Australian athletes competing in the Olympics because they have worked so very hard to get to where they are today, and they are the best of the best! As I said, Go Sports! Now if I was to participate in the Olympics, I would not be choosing a sport to compete in because I don't do the sport thing however, I would love to help hand out sunflower lanyards and bracelets to anyone who needed them at the Olympics. From hdsunflower.com; ‘The Hidden Disabilities Sunflower is here every day of the year to support people living with non-visible disabilities in their communities by raising awareness, training businesses and sharing stories to help create a more inclusive, understanding society.’ Thank you everyone for the support and endless kindness. Your friend Shan Hello you sports fans, and welcome to today blog. What is your favourite Olympic sport and why. I don’t really have a favourite sport, but I have enjoyed watching the swimming, especially seeing the Women’s 200m swim with Mollie O’Callaghan and Ariane Titmus. Before the race Mollie was the world champ but Ariane was expected to win as her times were better. Walking out to the pool Mollie was so nervous and was shaking while standing on the blocks, while Ariane was so calm. It was an exciting race to watch with the lead changing each 50m turn. At the last turn with 50m to go Siobhan Haughey from Hong Kong was leading, Ariane second and Mollie third. With an incredible burst of speed Mollie took the lead and hung on to win Gold with Ariane second and Siobhan third. It was so exciting to watch the race, even re-watching it for this blog was great. Another swimmer I would like to mention is Kyle Chalmers who competed in the Men’s 100m and Men’s 100m relay. His swim in the Men’s 100m was amazing. At the turn of 50 metres he was coming last but he gave everything and came second and he announced he is not retiring. Both swimmers along with all our Australian Olympics competitors are incredible and I admire them. I also love their swimming costumes Have you or a family member been watching the Olympics or have you or a family member competed in an Olympic event. Love from Jess Good morning, readers! On this chilly day, we're excited to discuss our favourite Olympic sport. I've chosen Equestrian as mine, and it's because I adore horses - they remind me of majestic unicorns! Let me share some interesting facts I found on Google. Equestrian sports refer to specific riding events held at horse shows and competitive horse and rider events at the Summer Olympic Games. The three main events are dressage, show jumping, and eventing (not hunter trails). Note that horse racing, rodeos, and polo are excluded from this category. As someone with two years of horse riding experience, I've learned so much and gained confidence. I've been pushing myself out of my comfort zone, and I'm so proud of trying something new. I'm grateful for the support around me, which helps me manage my nerves when I start overthinking things before a ride. To calm myself, I focus on the joy of riding and the reward of visiting the pet corner afterwards, where I get to interact with adorable animals like fish, baby bunnies, and goats! If you were in the Olympics what sport would you choose? Thank you for reading my blog. Enjoy the rest of your day, your mystical friend Bethany. This is what I found. Archery’s history at the Olympic Games is split into two periods: the early era and the modern era. The sport featured on the programme of the Olympic Games in 1900, 1904, 1908 and 1920 during the early era. It was also one of the first sports to feature women’s events, in 1904. The competition formats were inconsistent, often based on local rules, and archery was subsequently dropped from the programme. World Archery was founded in 1931 with the goal of rejoining the Games. I find this sport pretty interesting. I think of it as letting out your anger. How I discovered archery, is when I was playing Team Fortress 2 when I was 10 years old. There is a character in the game named “the sniper”. He uses a sniper rifle but you can give him a bow and arrow, and the bow and arrow is called “The Huntsman”. Here's a fact, if your teammate is a pyro he can set your arrow on fire therefore you can have a fire effect. It does more damage and sets your enemies on fire if you don't get a headshot. If I was in the Olympics I would go for this sport because I love it. If I were participating in the Olympics, I would do gym and gamer. Gaming should be a sport. I would make sure to go to the gym every Sunday I think so, and so my friend will take me to the gym every Sunday and when I get home to play game. Some of the Olympics are on the tv, of course I watch with my little brother. Anyways I play Fortnite and I almost win, I come second then I go have a run around the farm. Sometimes I eat good food, sometimes I don’t but a good gym is good for my body to be strong. And I hangout with my friend. From the one and only TJ.
