This week we had so many good news stories when we shared our morning “wins” that it made sense to use our “Choose your own adventure” card!
We love sharing our good news stories as well as celebrating each other’s achievements and we have good stuff to share with you all today. Please enjoy the read today because we certainly enjoyed putting it together for you… Hi Readers! how are you? Today I'll be telling you about a BIG thing, and that big thing is me becoming this years' School Captain! Alongside my school best friend Dylan, who is the male School Captain, we will Co-Captian the school together. The official investiture ceremony is on Wednesday 27th of March. How exciting! On Monday I had the interview and I was amazing! The school asked me a lot of questions about important topics within the school. I was asked about the school representative council meetings and what topics I would like to have resolved and discussed, I talked about bullying. I believe I spoke really well. I loved every bit of the interview because it felt like it was my time to shine. I was so excited on the Friday afternoon because Shaun, Dylan and I had a discussion about the results, and Shaun told Dylan and I that we are the School Captains for 2024. Yay! Do you have big news like this? Were you ever a School Captain? Thankyou for reading, love you guys! – Angelina Hey readers, welcome back! For today’s topic I will be sharing a day in the a life of Jess. I do many things during the week from Umbrella to Vinnies and also housework because it can’t do itself. I have been working on heathy eating I also love blogging on a Thursday were my brain works hard. You can find me in the kitchen on a Friday cooking up a storm, and cooking anything delicious, I also do ten pin bowling on a Saturday morning, where it’s great to see me in action. I do attend a few different programs over the weekends when I get around to it. I also have made so many new friends who I love to hang out with during the week. I also have many hobbies, I believe you can do anything you put your mind to. Now to some serious words. I’ve done a program back in the day called positive change program and here is some words that I’ve kept. I would like to say sometimes the road seems long and hard, but dreams do come true and goals can be achieved. Start thinking now make a plan start working through the steps. Good luck. Love from Jess. It’s another choose your own adventure week in blogging today, and I love it when we get to choose our very own topic. I love concerts! But wasn’t I just at Taylor Swift? Keep reading to find out more. Something special happened to me last week, I got last-minute tickets to Pink! Pink is a singer who is currently touring Australia, she performed many shows at Marvel Stadium in Docklands, and she flies across the stadium and makes the crowd go wild and scream. I am writing this blog the day after Pink. I’m exhausted as I didn’t get home until midnight because we needed a Maccas run on the way home. Some of my favourite songs performed by Pink are “So What”, “Who Knew” and “Raise Your Glass”. I love many of Pink’s songs, especially “Cover Me in Sunshine”. Her daughter Willow joined her on stage and boy did she do an amazing job. Do you have a favourite singer? It is a bit tricky who I like more, either Taylor or Pink. The reason why it's hard they a both amazing in my opinion. There was a conundrum at Pink, the crowds were so large and everywhere at the end of the concert, I found it overwhelming. But I was with my friend and felt safe. There are no jokes related to Pink so I’m doing a joke on concerts instead because why not? What is a golf club’s favourite type of music? A swing. Thank you for reading! Do you also love Pink and her music? – Scarlett Hi I’m TJ, and today’s topic is to choose you own adventure topic so my topic is to be work. I’m going to work today and I will make sure I work hard. My focus for tomorrow is to work more and have less fun but when I finish work, I will go to Hungry Jacks for lunch. I’m going out with Kristian to have some fun and sometimes we have a crazy day or night when we are out together. I’m going out to Fortress, I hope to buy a t-shirt and next time I go get a bag for my pc. I always have some fun playing games. For my birthday they made a cake, it had the Fortnite logo on top was my name. – TJ It’s 10pm, Do you know where your kids are right now? Hello Friends, What an odd way to begin a blog right? Wrong! It's another choose your own adventure blog! Get excited readers and be ready for another week of blogs from us all. Okay so back to this blog though, I was scrolling through Instagram as we all do and an old video of an American news PSA (public service announcement) that said “It’s 10pm, do you know where your kids are right now?” No judgement to the parents of that time, just as a human of 2024 I felt this was something I could write about and blow the younger readers' minds. It blows my mind. I came from the time of floppy discs and VHS tapes. (Floppy discs were old time USB’s and VHS tapes were old time DVDs). It’s really hard to imagine that there was a time when parents needed to be reminded to check on their kids at 10pm, let alone go physically have to go find them. I'm not saying this was bad parenting because obviously times were different when the PSA needed to be aired. (Roughly the 1960s) it's just in this day and age kids being out at night unsupervised causing all sorts of chaos in the neighbourhood later than 7pm today is really strange to me and parents not knowing where they are is probably slightly frowned upon. (Or maybe a lot frowned upon but who am I to say). If this PSA was on the news at 10pm today I'm pretty sure the answer from many parents would be; “What do they mean do I know where they are? Of course, I know where they are!” Obviously, I can't pretend to know what it’s like to parent as I don't have children and I won't be having them either but if any of the children in my life were out past 7pm unsupervised and whereabouts unknown myself AND their parents would be having conniptions, freaking out and searching everywhere. With mobile phones, social media and air tags (or their equivalent) we probably know too much about where everyone is and what they are doing. There isn't very much mystery about much anymore but that's a topic for another blog. So, this my friends, is something to think about, if you have children or fur children do you know where they are at 10pm? I hope you are having a lovely day and that you’re checking in on yourself (probably before 10pm). All my love, Your friend, Shan This week It’s time for another blog about my travels and this time it’s going to be a big one since this took place about 4-5 years after my trip to Singapore, so let’s get into the biggest travel I’ve done to date today. The year is 2012, the year that was supposed to be the end of the world, or according to the Mayans and the movie but this year I had big plans, and everyone fell into place at the exact same time so I got multiple chances that year, I somehow went to 3 completely different places in a span of a month. Orlando Florida USA, Costa Rica, and Honolulu in Hawaii Here is what happened in the months leading up to my trip. My brother after finishing school actually got a job at The Disney Cultural Exchange Program for a period of 3 months working as a concierge at a famous Disney Hotel in Orlando Florida Disneyland and conveniently it was around the same time I was planning to go on another big adventure with my Yaya so my mother and my godmother had a good plan, we would visit my brother first before I went and did my own adventure in another country a couple hours away from America. So, for 2 days I hung out with my brother and my godmother and mum with free passes into Disneyworld Orlando. My brother even tricked mum and I to go on certain rides during the trip! Mum did the Tower of Terror and I did the Rockin Roller coaster by Aerosmith, needless to say I was happy with the ride but my mother on the other hand did not enjoy the Tower of Terror as it was too fast for her and too high. My brother laughed and said that was the best one he’s ever been on and he’s been on it multiple times as the ride is completely different each ride. – Holly This week’s topic was choose your own adventure. Dear readers, after having a very big week I hit a wall for ideas about what to write about. I finally chose AFL football. My team is Hawthorn. I will be at home with my dad watching the Hawks playing against Essendon which is my dad’s team. This is the only time dad and I watch the game together and we are very competitive regarding which team wins hopefully it’s the Hawks! Dad and I are quiet supporters but every now and then I yell out “Come on”! Especially if we are losing. Sometimes at the end of the game depending who has won or lost we may or may not be talking to each other. How do you react to your team winning or losing? The AFL season is 26 home and away games followed by the finals leading up to the grand final which I hope Hawthorn is playing in. Do you like watching footy on the TV or being there? Written by Charlotte. Hi lovely fan club, Today’s topic is choose your own adventure and my adventure is going to the Pink concert last Tuesday night. I was picked up by my support worker and her daughter then we drove to the farm where we met with my group who was also going to the Pink concert. We drove to the city and went to the Marvel stadium which was my first time there. I felt excited and a bit overwhelmed to be in such a big crowd but I pushed through because I was there to have fun. Let me tell you how I was going. I sang at the top of my lungs. We got told not to stand up so the people at the back could see. One of my friends got a box of pink stuff and she let me choose one thing from it that I wanted, and I chose the Pink VIP lanyard so if I go to Pink concert again I could sit in the VIP section. Just a quote from Pink that I like: “I think we all feel misunderstood, and our main goal is to be appreciated for all that we are - most of the time we don’t even understand ourselves.” Thank you for reading my blog your bubbly friend Bethany. This weeks topic is a choose your own adventure and I have chosen budgeting. I am now very ready to start budgeting and take my budgeting very seriously. I know it will really help me in my everyday life. This is my step one, and it is to have four separate bank accounts. My number one account is my everyday account. My number two account is my savings-needs account. My third account is for wants. And my forth account is for my dogs. This account is only for my dogs, for all my dogs needs because I love my dogs very much and my dogs mean the world to me. Step two for me is to do a shopping list before I go into the supermarket and stick to the shopping list. My third step is to do meal plan before I go into the supermarket and stick to meal plan. My needs account I am going to save $50 My dogs account I am going to save $50 My wants account I am going to save $30, every two weeks and hopefully there will be some weeks where I can put extra money into my three savings accounts. Step 4 I am going to reduce my spending on take-away drinks and coffees and lunches. Step 5 take my own lunch and snacks from home, my own cans of no-sugar coke and my orange juice and latte coffee sachets from home in my lunch bag with the freezer bricks. Step 5 I need to concentrate on what I spend and keep accountable. I have had some trouble with budgeting and saving money because I have come to learn that I emotional shop because of my anxiety. This has got me into a lot of trouble, and at the end of the day I end up with nothing and its simply not healthy or helpful to me. Not budgeting properly has made me feel low in my moods and frustrated and not feeling very good about myself. I am ready for my support workers to help me implement the above changes from today, because I know it is the proper thing to do. I feel ready for it because I will feel better for myself. Thank you readers once again, Gypsy.
