Hello everyone!
Today we’re talking about the things we’re good at and how those skills make us feel. Everyone has different talents and strengths, whether it’s being creative, helping others, playing sport, cooking, making people laugh, or learning new things. When we do something we’re good at, it can make us feel proud, confident, happy, and motivated. In this blog, we’ll be sharing some of the things we’re good at and how they make a positive difference in our lives. We hope our stories inspire you to think about your own strengths too! Today's blog is about things I am good at and how they make me feel. I'm good at lots of things, but something that I love to do is dancing! I do dance class every Thursday, I'm really good at remembering all my new moves every week. Dancing makes me feel happy, I like dancing in class but also in my Umbrella groups with my friends, and at home to some fun music. My favourite music to dance to is Disney music, I know almost every song. I'm also really good at bowling. I have my own bowling ball and love when I go with my friends. It makes me feel happy when I win and get a high score but I'm still happy even when I don't win because I try my best and have fun. I'm really good at making coffee now which makes me feel proud of myself because that is a new skill that I have learnt this year. I've learnt how to make a coffee shot, steam the milk, pour the milk, serve the coffee and even take orders from customers. Now that I've learnt these skills in the cafe, I now make my family coffee at home which makes me so happy. I get really excited about making coffee and I look forward to my days on Wednesday. I like to help out with cleaning, I'm good at cleaning my room, doing the dishes, folding the laundry, helping with food shopping. I also like to help clean at my programs by changing bins, sweeping, vacuuming and wiping down benches. Helping out makes me feel a part of a team. This is Claire signing off, l'll see you next week. Today's blog is about things I'm good at and how that makes me feel. I'm going to tell you some of the many things that I'm good at! I'm good at cooking, I enjoy cooking. Last week we made fried rice and chicken skewers, I was really good at making the chicken skewers with Steph. I would place chicken then capsicum, then chicken then onion it was just like a pattern I was really good at following this. I'm good at washing the vegetables and mixing ingredients together. I'm good at going on the escalators at the shops now, I used to be afraid of them. Now I feel brave and I think they are so nice. I now tell Sheridan I want to go on the escalators, she used to ask me to go on them, now I'm more eager to get on them to show her I'm brave and I can do it. I'm good at making coffees, I learnt how to make coffees this year. I make coffee at the cafe with my friends on Wednesday and Friday. I like making coffees. I learnt how to warm the milk and making it soft and fluffy, I also learnt how to make a coffee shot, then how to add the milk to the coffee. I'm good at singing and dancing, I love singing and dancing. I'm good at singing my favourite songs and I'm good at dancing to music. I love dancing at dinner with friends. I'm good at being kind to others, I compliment others and I ask if they are okay. Good bye, Ronalda. Things I am good at and how it makes me feel. I have a good memory of putting objects back together. I’m lucky to work at the tip for two days every week where I find very interesting gadgets. There is a lot of metal, cardboard and plastic in the waste and even electronic equipment. We call that e-waste. I even tried putting a computer back together and I couldn't believe I even got it to work. When it comes to lunch time with Chris my friend, we have lunch lunch at the food truck which comes into the tip. I ask for one sausage roll and a strawberry Fanta, it is something I look forward to and have lots of laughs together. I work for four hours a day, for two days and it keeps me active. This is my special gift and knowledge that I share with all of my friends. Nick. Today we are blogging about what we are good at and how it makes us feel. I think part of being human is exploring what we are good at and if it brings us joy. Some things take a bit of work, time and patience to be good at them and others you might just be naturally good at. I know from experience that there are somethings that we just might not ever be good at and they will become the bane of our existence. Giving everything a go whether you think you’ll be at it or not can be super rewarding and a great experience too. I feel like it’s easier to see what other people are good at rather than what you, yourself are good at. I think I’m really good at seeing what other people are good at though, I think I have an appreciation for it and sometimes someone might need a gentle reminder that they have a gift or talent for something. It makes my heart happy to see other people doing well and excelling. It’s a privilege to be apart of and to witness. I would say that I am an incredibly creative person. While I might not be good at everything creative. I’ll give almost anything creative a go, it’s not always a success and that’s ok. Sometimes things come to us to teach us a lesson in life. The universe is a bit wacky like that. Anyway I’m a big advocate for giving things a go when it comes to creative activities. I am good at drawing, it’s something that makes me happy but also it’s something I can channel my feelings into. I’m good at writing. Writing makes me think and gives my brain a bit of a workout while also helping me to feel calm once I’m done. I’m also good at sewing, sewing sometimes tests my patience when I’m learning a new technique, or it’s a new fabric that isn’t what I’m used to and this is all ok because it’s still something that in the end brings me joy. I’m actually good at a lot of things when I really think about it. I don’t really want to “toot my own horn” or brag about what I’m good at but maybe we should be more positive towards our talents. Have you thought about what you are good at? Thank you for reading our bogs. Your friend always, Shan. The one thing I am really good at for my 3D animation is I made the walk cycle and I’m really good at the voice over and you know what, I am the voice as the Villager. On Friday I am really good at making the coffee, I really am good at the coffee machine. On Wednesday I am really good at making the film from my other program. I am really good at doing the camera from the shot list to make sure is nice and perfect. I am really good at making the stop motion I made the walk cycle, and I make the mouth for the face. On Tuesday I am really good at making my claymation, but first I make sure to make the skeleton. I am going to make the Tim Burton style film with stop motion. I am really good at uploading onto YouTube so everyone can see my animation and it was funny and hilarious. Korey. Today’s topic is something I am good at. How does it make me feel? What are you good at? I am good at remembering people’s birthdays. Even though I do not share my date of birth publicly, it does not stop me from remembering other people’s birthdays. Some people sometimes forget, but I try my best to remember. My family also remembers my birthday and wishes me every year, even though I do not like loud attention. It feels like kindness in return. I wish them on their birthdays too, and they wish me on mine. If it is an important document, I will write my birth date, but for small talk I prefer not to share it. I am also good at being attentive. I notice things that other people might miss. For example, at school I noticed a classmate who was never absent. I also remember my Umbrella Support friends’ favourite things because I spend time with them often. For example, Claire likes dancing and going to the movies with Krystle because she talks about it often. I am also good at helping customers at my supermarket job, even though I am an introvert. Sometimes customers ask me where items are, like lunchboxes, and I tell them the aisle number. I like my job, but it can be noisy at times because families bring their children shopping. I do not enjoy loud or busy environments because they can feel overstimulating, but I still focus on my work. I am also good at expressing my opinions. I have strong preferences about what I like and dislike. Blogging helps me with this because I can express my thoughts freely. I also feel happy that people are quiet and respectful when reading blogs, even if they do not always agree. I feel proud that I can do blogging now. I did not start when it first began in 2023 because I was hesitant at the time and preferred other activities like handmade crafts and work. Last year, Cindy and Martina encouraged me to try blogging because they noticed I wrote nice captions on my Instagram photos and enjoyed writing greeting cards. I also have a good memory. I remember many small details from the past, like having a baby Mickey and Minnie bowl when I was younger. It was very cute. I am also good at asking questions. I think asking questions is important in life. My brain is very literal when it comes to social language, so I often ask ChatGPT or my support worker for clarification. For example, I once asked whether when people say “you should,” it is controlling or just a suggestion. ChatGPT and my support worker explained that it is usually just a way of giving advice or suggestions, not forcing anything. I am also learning to be more assertive, like saying no when I need to. At school, I was more shy and passive, but now I am improving. However, I can still sometimes become defensive. I feel proud that I am good at some things. I think it is important to recognise what we are good at. Thank you for reading. This is Princess Jacinda signing off. Hi friends, how are you? Todays topic is what am I good at and how does it make me feel? I'm good at singing, cooking, always there for my friends. I’m good at adjusting to changes including my braces, coffees, arts and crafts, blogging, media being comfortable in front of the camera, being brave for my shots and at the dentist, asking for help if I need, writing by myself but having a little bit of help writing my blog, conquering the stairs after slipping or falling with a bit of help from support workers, using the coffee grinder putting it in the coffee machine and using the steam wand to warm the milk. I'm really good at public speaking with a support worker next to me. I spoke in front of a hundred people at the Anzac day at the Lyrebird Community Centre. Readers what are you good at and how does it make you feel? Let us know in the comments below, we would love to know. Blogging Beth signing off for another week. Dear readers, this week's topic is what we are good at. Let me start by telling you about what I'm good at, it is being a very good and passionate chef. Being a good friend, and I used to be very good at professional ballroom dancing. I'm good at dancing and singing at home alone and I'm good at the Hellow Media program. How do I feel? I love cooking and feel happy when I'm cooking and I feel happy dancing and singing at home alone. But today readers, I have writer's block. Written by Charlotte. I would say I’m good at puzzles, not sure why though, but everyone says they don’t have patience for them. I can sit there for hours doing them. I’ve done since I was a little kid, from memory my first puzzle was a little mermaid floor puzzle and I would take it everywhere. I mainly do 1,000 to 3,000 piece puzzles. I have also done a sphere one, the top of it was hard, it was plastic and I had to push the pieces in without it falling in the sphere and collapsing. I’ve done numerous of puzzles in my life time, One time I even did a blog type where I would watch movies of the theme of the puzzle. For a Disney puzzle would watch a Disney movie. For abandoned places I would watch abandoned places movies. I did for a while. It was quite hard but I did it. There are puzzles of the same colour or even clear, I’m not really game to do them, that would do my head in. I’ve done two puzzle competitions, one with my dad, and one with my a support worker. There were so many people there. It makes me feel like I’ve accomplished something when I finish a puzzle, until there’s a piece missing that also annoys me. Haley.
